Accidental Plastics by Kate Potter

By reading this article I found out that thinks can be invented with plastics.  There are a few people who invented things made from plastic.

Plastic literally means easy to bend or mould into different shapes. Plastic was discovered in the mid 1800s. First a man named John Wesley Hyatt invented a celluloid in 1869. Secondly, a man named Edouard Benedictus invented a safety glass.

How he made a safety glass by hitting a flask was by  accident. He noticed that after the flask had fallen and banged on to the floor, it would stay in one place so he stayed up all night working how to make a safety glass.

And last a scientist named Alan Holloway made blue tack in 1970.

WALT: We are learning to predict what the text is about by reading the title of the text. SUCCESS CRITERIA: I am able to confirm my prediction by reading the text. Read the text and then do the following Activities. Response Activity Activity 1 - Predict Read the title of the article and then predict what the article is about. Tamati I predict that this article is about weird looking skeletons. Whitney I think this article is about a little boy that's, going around a shop full of different shapes of Skeleton. Alisi I guess it's about a saffron’s Skeleton that’s is a kind of animal that has died years ago.    Danny I think this article is about bones. I think this skeleton bones is a dinosaur bones. Loto This article is about saffron's skele- ton. I think this skeleton is a animal I think the skeleton is a chicken Stephen This article is about Saffron’s Skel- eton This Skeleton is from a chicken ]Activity  2. A skeleton is a leftover bone from an animal. A Chickens skeleton height is tall as a tyrannosaurus rexs foot. A skeleton is a type of a bone. When a chicken skeleton is shiny and clean it looks yellow. But a dinosaur's skeleton is white. Cool right. A skeleton is a type of bone that people research on and find out what bones on which animal it comes from. Activity 3 - Clarify. Make a list of any tricky or new words, phrases or ide as.Clarify the meaning of all these  tricky words, phrases and ideas.    * Dermestid -                   * Vertebrates - * gallus Domesticus - Activity 4 - Questioning and Discussion - What did you learn from this text? What else are you wondering about? Whitney- What I have learnt from the  text is a lot of new and  different worlds and parts of skeletons bones. Stephen- What i have learnt from the text is a lot of skeletons in the text. Alisi- The thing I learnt best was about saffron’s skeleton. Loto- So i'm wondering about how does chicken's skin come of when they are dead. And also I learned heaps more stuff about bones & skeleton. There the same thing I think. Danny-So I am wondering how come a Chicken is about the height of the tyrannosaurus rex’s foot.  And I also learned that the the dinosaurs millions years ago particular from the ferocious Activity 5 - Share your findings on the text by creating a summary of what you have found out. Tamati- What i have learnt from the text is a lot of skeletons in this text. Loto- What I have learn from this text was that how to clean chickens when they're dead. That was yuck. And I have learned that chicken bones are as hard as human bones. AWESOME!!!. Danny-In this story I have learned that fish and birds need extra bones to support their eyes. There extra bones are meant to belong to the ostrich but they use it for the birds and fishes., Activity 6 - Share your work on your individual blog.

Writing reflection

This year I did my learning with Mrs Parker in a netbook classroom using Google Drive.

Having a netbook made it easier to learn and when you have mistakes like word mistakes you can correct it easily.

This year I learned how to do persuasive writing, by writing an argument and presenting it as a class debate. It was like we were in a courtroom.

I did research on Netherlands, ANZAC soldiers, science, maths, different war communications and more.

The thing I enjoyed learning about the most was…Maths and Coding Games. because maths helped me to add and minus. And coding was fun to play.

I still want to learn more about what really happened in the war. because we only learnt a little bit of the War.

The class trip  I enjoyed most this year was going to the Auckland Live trip, it was fun and exciting because we were going to take some packs home.

I am proud of the way I  have been participating in trips and sport.

Next year I am going to do be better then i have been this year and try to achieve more.

                 

Virtual Trips

              Virtual World Trip

In the Virtual world trip we went around the world and up above the world. We went to africa , the great wall of china , the moon, Mars, Milky way, Volcano and hiroshima memorial.

If you don’t know what is it you can search it up. If you think we exactly went on for real life “  WELL ”  you're wrong .  We used these goggles with a smartphone inside, Not real goggles CARDBOARD goggles. People from google created a app called google HQ. HQ stands for headquarters. We are the 28 school from around NZ that got this opportunity  and experience to look on one of these digital devices. This was so fun most of us were complaining, and some were excited when we went down to room 3 to test those devices. When we were finished and that the complainers got payback from Mrs parker.

It wasn’t bad payback it was like good payback Mrs parker just said was fun to the complainers. Oh i forgot to tell you that the person from google.
